Prime Day Tech Deals: Apple Discounts, Our Favorite Sony Headphones at Lowest-Ever Prices, and More
October Prime Day is here, and we’re updating this story hourly. To find the best deals in every category, follow all of our October Prime Day coverage.
Prime Day is once again upon us, this year running from October 6 through October 7. With it comes an abundance of tech deals on things like e-readers (Kindles always go on sale during Prime Day), wireless earbuds and headphones, robot vacuums, and plenty of smart home gear. But not all deals are created equal: Some are worth pouncing on immediately, while others are worth glossing over until a better deal comes along (and we’re always looking out for them). But finding the best ones isn’t as simple as looking over Amazon’s deals page, so we’ve done the dirty work and sifted through every Prime Day deal to find the ones worth your money.
As the Strategist’s tech writer, I’ve gone through every Prime Day tech deal to find any of our picks — so far I’ve found earbuds, e-readers, and headphones we recommend — with a significant discount (the exact percentage varies depending on the type of gadget). After all, who doesn’t want to save $100 on our best robot vacuum overall or $70 on our favorite wireless earbuds for working out? And for everything non-tech related, be sure to subscribe to the Strategist Deal Freaks Daily newsletter and keep an eye on our Prime Day hub for even more deals.

If you’re all-in on Apple, you won’t find better earbuds than the AirPods Pro 3. They’re lightweight and comfortable, sound great, and have top-notch noise cancellation for earbuds. And they’re nearly at their lowest price ever.

Get our pick for the best noise-canceling headphones overall while they’re down to their lowest price yet. They’re comfortable, excellent-sounding, and better at tuning out noise than any other headphone I’ve tested.

While these headphones are on-ear rather than over-ear (meaning they won’t block out as many sudden noises like dogs barking or horns honking), they still sound great and feature the immediately recognizable Beats designand bass-rich sound.

For an even better listening experience, get Beats’ over-ear headphones that are better at blocking out noise and produce an overall nicer sound. They’re down to their lowest price to date right now, too.

These are my favorite headphones to wear when I’m on a bike ride. The clips ensure my buds never fall off, and Apple’s best-in-class transparency mode helps me hear my surroundings and avoid any accidents or mishaps.

While they lack some of the bells and whistles — and polish — of the more expensive Bose QuietComfort Ultras, these more affordable headphones cover all the essentials of good noise-canceling headphones. They’re comfortable, great-sounding, and do an excellent job of blocking out distracting noises. Do note, though, that as of right now, only the black model is on sale.

The previous version of our best less-expensive wireless earbuds are down to just a few bucks over their lowest price ever and still make for excellent listening, especially at such a low price point. Plus they feature Nothing’s unique design language that embraces the tech aesthetic, where most earbuds shy away from it.

If you want something you can wear over your ears — for better sound and noise-cancellation — the company’s budget headphones are on sale right now, too. Every color is discounted, but the black and white models are the cheapest (and I think look the best).

WiiM Ultra
This audio doodad — which looks sort of like a big Mac Mini — adds streaming to whatever stereo system you already have. It can, for example, turn a set of bookshelf speakers into a full-blown Sonos-like setup.

Our pick for the best robot vacuum overall (which is also a mop) is down to its lowest price to date, making this the perfect time to pick one up and start getting your floors spiffy clean.

If you want a smart speaker with better than passable sound for playing music, this speaker from Amazon is loud enough to fill a room with enough oomph to keep a (small) party going.

Video doorbells ensure you never answer the door for an unwanted guest. While this model isn’t as high-res as our best overall pick, it’ll still help you keep a better eye on your packages.

My favorite sunrise alarm clock for waking up in the morning is down to its lowest price yet. It has a gentle light that helps you ease into the morning and comes loaded with soothing sounds that are less jolting than Apple’s default option on the iPhone.
Laptop, tablet, and e-reader deals

With RAM and storage prices at all-time highs, any deal on a good laptop is welcome. Apple’s latest MacBook Air — released earlier this year — has enough power to handle your daily workload and enough longevity to last for years to come (as most Apple laptops do), and it’s on sale for $200 off.

While Amazon just announced a new lineup of Kindles (that all look great), the previous version of the Kindle Paperwhite is still an excellent e-reader — and it’s 25 percent off.

The kids’ edition of the Kindle is on sale, too, and makes a great gift.

Or perhaps a tiny e-reader to keep in your pocket for reading on the go. Get it while it’s 16 percent off — the lowest price I’ve seen for it.

Apple iPad mini (A17 Pro): Apple Intelligence, 8.3-inch Liquid Retina Display, 128GB
Apple’s tiny tablet — $100 off right now — is great for reading and browsing the web, and its support for the Apple Pencil makes it an excellent portable sketchpad.

For stationery nerds, a portable printer can help you up your game by letting you put photos right on the page. Even if you don’t spend all your spare time decorating notebooks, it’s nice to be able to print a photo and share it with a loved one.
