What Brooke Shields (Still) Can’t Live Without

I have a bigmugof it right next to me. It’s the best. And I love the little pyramid bags, but I made the mistake of buying it in bulk a couple weeks ago, and they weren’t the pyramids. And I was so mad. I was like, “Oh my God, I have so many — it’ll last me, like, a year.” But then my next purchase will be the little pyramids.

I’ve been using it for a few years now, and it’s made such a difference. As long as I do it consistently, people like makeup artists are always commenting onmy lashesand say, “They’re just so long.” It really works because it extends the period of time that the actual hair is in the growth phase. So you get to see your lashes become longer lashes. I’m very loyal to it. If I know I’m going on vacation and I want to give my lashes a break, I will sometimes dye them, and with the length being longer and a light tint, I’ll notice that I don’t even need to wear anymascara.

It looks like a WetBrush. It’s not a hard bristle, they’re like plastic bristles. But there’s something about the way it detangles my hair, wet or dry, and it doesn’t rip my hair. Someone had shown me it, and so I ordered it online. Then I did a one-woman show at the Carlyle, and I realized the salon there was his salon, and so I went and stocked up on all the brushes and gave them as gifts to my friends.

It’s one of the ones where you can interchange the heads, like, there’s something about the smoothness of the way itshaves— I don’t get bumps on my legs. It’s pretty, and I keep it on my wall in its little holder. The handle is just really nice, too. It’s very smooth. And it doesn’t get sticky — it’s conditioning rather than gooey.

I’m not a great meditator, Zen person. I don’t really do yoga anymore, but my version of meditation is doing puzzles. And Libertypuzzlesare beautiful: They have Audubon prints, all wood so they fit beautifully together. And I’ve never been one to frame a puzzle, but these are framable. I like the Audubon prints — when you see them in real life, if you’ve seen the hand-painted watercolored ones, I think they’re just so beautiful.

I used to use the Jergens, and the smell was just so bad. With Tan-Luxe, I was amazed at how good the color was, how not smelly it was, and the overall bronze. It justbronzed meso naturally, and it doesn’t get orange. I’m kind of addicted to it — when I didMother of the Bride, once a week I would just get all sponged up. It doesn’t get all over your sheets, and there are so many different versions of it (the mousse and the spray and the cream), so you can really custom make it.

They’re justplain white tee, but there’s a real richness in the thickness and the crewneck. And they’re a little retro — they look a little ’60s because they’re a little higher. But I really like the weight of them; you don’t have to wear a bra and it’s kind of great. I usually buy, like, six at a time, and if they start getting a little yellow or a little faded, or not as crisp white, then I use them as cloths. I wish I could keep them forever, but I have to really make sure that they stay white. Otherwise, I just need anew one.

Leave-in conditionerhas always made me nervous because I don’t want my hair to be weighed down. But since I’ve gotten older, my hair gets a little frizzy — I’ve noticed a lot because the texture also of any graying hair is definitelyfrizzier. So we painstakingly developed this because we knew that people really wanted to seal their hair, the shaft of their hair, but not make it look greasy or weighed down. Which is so tricky! But I can use this on wet hair; I use it on dry hair. It goes into the actual hair shaft, so it doesn’t just lay on top of it like a lot of conditioners — it doesn’t make hair greasy, ours actually hydrates the hair from the inside. It smells fresh (I mean, some people say it’s a little floral, but I did not want it to be sweet). I wanted it to be fresh and refreshing and light, but not overpowering, so you can just still wear whateverscentyou do like to wear.
