What Joy Mangano Can’t Live Without

They’re indispensable. I’m going to meetings all the time, and I’m on the phone all the time. But truly, as I’ve gotten older, I love to walk. I literally blast Pitbull’s music and it keeps me walking. Without that, I couldn’t do it. It’s my daily gear, so to speak. They’re great. Obviously, it’s an amazing thing that I can be in a car with other people going into New York City to a meeting, and I can carry on my meeting and conversation without really disturbing everybody on the car speaker.

I get up in the morning and I can’t wait to get to the Keurig coffee machine. I am a coffee lover. I mean, maybe people go to Italy for the food — I go for the coffee. Starbucks, how fantastic is it? Well, I really do indulge myself. If I ever go to Starbucks, I get the caramel macchiato, which is way too fattening for every morning in my house. We can indulge ourselves every now and then, right? I mean, this really is my coffee of choice, but there are places in life where I’ll never forget the cup of coffee I’ve had. It’s near and dear, and I actually have been toying with making coffee. There’s a lot in that industry that you can learn and do great things. Anyway, I will depend on Starbucks for now.

Obviously, I’m in the TV and product business. This is a product that I discovered while watching the company’s commercials on TV. There’s been a significant difference since I started taking them over the course of time. We love to say that we eat a balanced meal all the time. These are naturally made with food ingredients; there are no synthetics. I thought,Okay, it’s just going to fill in the void of me not eating fruits and vegetables.But they actually does more than that. I really feel better in general. I can’t say enough about these vitamins. I mean, it’s not my product and I just think it’s fabulous and I feel very good. I take them diligently every day. As an inventor, I feel very confident in saying that. I did a lot of research on it.

We’re going to the opposite spectrum. If I have to be really honest with you, if you went up in my bedroom, you’d find a bowl of Cadbury Mini Eggs. As a chocolate lover, I wait for this time of year. They come out on the shelves for Easter time, and then after, I just buy a whole bunch of bags to have for a while. They give me that little chocolate fix. I just love chocolate. They are one of my little favorites. It is the dark chocolate and the crunch on the outside — and it’s just a little bit — so if you have a few, it satisfies. I mean, I could sit and eat an entire chocolate bar or two, or chocolate cake or whatever, if I get started. If you have a passion for chocolate, you know what I mean.

I’m telling you, it’s a great product. I take a shower every morning, obviously — maybe too much information — but it’s amazing. It stays on your body as you’re washing. and it really makes you feel clean. It’s not like when you put something on and it just washes right off. To me, that’s a waste. The formulation and the impact of it makes my skin feel lovely afterward. Once I started using it, I kept going back, because whatever they’re doing is some little magic secret sauce that makes you feel like not only is it working, but you’re getting your money’s worth. I just absolutely love it. It has moringa oil, hyaluronic acid, and a couple other things that are really good. As you get older, you’re very conscious of your skin staying nice.

I don’t happen to have beautiful, long lashes, but I’ve been using this mascara for a while. It has always had the best effect on my eyelashes. It gives you the look of plushness. It might not be, let’s say, the dime-store price, but for me, it’s well worth it. It stays on. It doesn’t flake or cake, all the things you want, because I’m live on TV for hours. The quality is just fantastic, and it does make your lashes look better.

When you get to my age or younger, you take your reading glasses on and off maybe a hundred times a day. That’s why people wear them around their neck. Once you hold your hand far enough out and you can’t read what’s there, you know you need reading glasses. I can’t read a text without readers. It becomes a necessity. I can’t read my phone without readers, so I probably love them even just as much as my chocolate. I like full readers. The readers where they used to come across here, you have to look down. You look older when you do that. I make more affordable readers now because it was such a necessity, but I used to wearPersoland Ray-Ban and maybe some Jimmy Choos along the way. The frames were beautiful and of such great optic quality. You don’t know yet, Lauren, but once you start to need them, you put them on and off constantly. Especially today, everybody has their phone.
