The suitcase that gets kicked all over the world

I was bullied by my fiancé into getting a Rimowa, and I’m now addicted. I have seven different Rimowa bags in various states of disrepair — because there are a lot of places in this world where locals like to kick them. It feels like they’re kicking them harder now, too. And I’m okay with that. If you buy a bag that makes you look like a rich douche, it should get kicked around a bit. But I love a Rimowa. They look really nice. I’m usually carry-on only, so theMars Orangecabin is my favorite.
[Editor’s note: Mars Orange was a limited-time colorway that’s no longer available.]
The mushroom pills that help him focus

I am very into Lion’s Mane mushrooms. For some reason, it works the same for me as Adderall, which is great because I don’t want to be in the pharmacology world any more than I need to be. There is a very high likelihood that it’s all a placebo because I feel the effects immediately after taking the pills, but it’s supposed to take about 30 minutes for them to kick in. It makes me focus, it adds pep to my step, it even makes me less anxious about the number of tasks I have to get done.
The Crocs Simone Rocha gave him

These are the most comfortable shoes I own and so fab. Everyone’s like, “Oh my God, I’m obsessed with those shoes. Where’d you get them?” And I’m like, “They’re Simone Rocha Crocs,” and then I feel kind of bad because when they ask where I got them, I’m like, “She sent them to me.” But they’re the best gift ever. Simone, please send me more. I love them so much. The only problem is if you live in New York and walk on the train for five minutes, the jewels are going to fall out. But I also think it adds character to have the little jewels fall out.
The jacket he bought the day Issey Miyake died

I lovethis Issey Miyake jacketbecause it looks really good with everything. The texture is amazing, and it stops right at the waist, which makes me feel like an anime character. I think it’s the perfect size to wear with a tie and a collared shirt but it really goes with everything. I actually got it from the Issey Miyake studio in Tokyo in 2021, on the day he died. Right after I bought it, everyone was suddenly really sad, and I was like, “What happened?” which is how I found out he passed away. And it was really heartbreaking because I’m obsessed with Issey. He’s one of the greatest designers ever.
[Editor’s note: Harris’s jacket is no longer being made, so we’ve linked to a vintage listing in a different color.]
The jeans he wears all the time

My favorite jeans are a pair of Bottega Venetas. They’re made of this sleek and silky wool-cotton blend, and they’re so comfortable. They’re basically dress jeans, and I wear them all the time. They have a baggier fit than I normally buy, but Talia Ryder picked them out for me, and she just knew. That was when I learned you have to listen to Gen Z. Gen Z knows.
The book that made him nostalgic for old New York

I’ve been researching the Robin Givhan book,Battle of Versailles, which has all these American figures in it — like Andy Warhol and Oscar de la Renta — and it got me looking into all these photos of them partying at Studio 54. Their world seemed a lot more alive than ours. It makes me wish that there were still parties where you could get a real table and everyone’s dressed up nice while being slutty. But now people are either like,I’m dressing up nice and cosplaying being normal, orI’m dressing slutty and doing slutty things. And I’m like, “Actually, can everyone just dress really niceandbe slutty together?” When my friends wear all black and grab a little rave bag to go to Basement, it’s like, “Stop cosplaying. You don’t live in Berlin, you live in New York City.” Too many finance guys go to Basement for me to actually believe there’s a real subculture happening there.
His faithful travel companion (until just recently)

I got this really nice Oral-B toothbrush during COVID in 2021, and it’s been my one consistent travel companion for five years. But I was brushing my teeth at KCRW Studios this morning, and it broke, so I threw it away right before talking to Elvis Mitchell. I’m buying a new one this afternoon. My fiancé has a new one that’s white and slender that I like, so I think I’m gonna get that one.
The exfoliating mask he wishes was edible

Tracie Martyn has this green mask you wear for like 15 minutes as it hardens. It smells like really sweet dirt. It smells like something that a kid would want to eat but shouldn’t. Have you seen that scene inJunebugwhere Amy Adams is like, “I really want to eat this nail polish”? And the woman was like, “That’s called Pica.” And she’s like, “Pica?” and she’s like, “Yeah, it’s like when you haven’t had enough vitamins.” I feel like I have Pica whenever I smell it, because I want to eat it.
The under-eye mask that reminds him he has a face

Sofie Pavitt Nice Ice Toner Pods
Sophie Pavitt makes these amazing cold ice pods for your under-eyes that I like a lot. Any time you get to put some cold on your face, it feels really intense because it’s such a rare feeling. It brings me forward to my face in a way where I notice I’ve been sitting back from it because we actually separate ourselves from our faces most of the time. The minute I take it away, I look at my face, and it feels tighter, like my skull got closer to my skin in a really nice way. It’s drooping less.
The book that blows all his friends’ kids’ minds

Anytime my friends have a baby, I get them this book by my favorite children’s author, Mo Willems, so they can look back and know that Uncle Jeremy was ready for their literary journeys before they could even read. It’s this weird meta-book from theElephant and Piggieseries about these characters realizing they’re in a book and being like, “It’s really fucked, we’re in a book.” Anytime I’ve let a kid read it, I see their brain explode — it’s really cool to give a 3-year-old that joy. I want all the kids to be real book readers, and it feels like the type of page-turner that can inspire someone to become a book reader for life. Someone who just had a baby is going to read this and be like, “He hasn’t sent it to me yet!” But guess what, it’s coming.
The book that finally taught him to speak Japanese

I was practicing my Japaneseevery day I was there, but it wasn’t until I found this phrase book that it started to stick. I had this other Japanese book that was really trying to teach me how to speak and understand Japanese, and this one is more like, “You want to learn how to have a conversation? Here’s what you say. Here are the phrases you will actually use when you go to a restaurant,”likeitadakimasu. That’s all you need to know to not be impolite when you get a meal from someone.
The Korean competition show that made him a believer

Battle of Fateson my TV is the thing at my house that I’m most excited by — besides my fiancé. Nothing has ever felt better to me than watching 49 of the best psychics in Korea — psychics of all stripes, like shamans, foot readers, face readers, name readers, saju readers, tarot-card readers — all going head-to-head to figure out who is the best shaman. They don’t get a million dollars, they don’t get a house, they don’t get a book deal. It’s all for the glory of the game. I know that it’s edited — they could be whispering the answers to these people for all I know — but I believed when I watched it. I believed it so completely.
The movie you should see with your romantic partner and best friend

This is the best date-night movie, and I think people should see it with their boyfriend or girlfriend and their best friend because it’ll lead to a fun dinner conversation. You know how sometimes people have these moments where they’re like,Do I like my boyfriend more than I like my best friend? My best friend and my fiancé are in a group chat called “Husbands” because it’s really hard to choose sometimes. This movie is about someone whose choice is not hard, and they make it very loudly. I produced and co-wrote it with Lena Góra and Pete Ohs, who directed it. Charli XCX is in it, Lena is in it, Will Madden is in it. It’s only 71 minutes long.
