My favorite daily use pen is the Uniball Signo UM-151 (extra fine), which are available in many colors, including black. I originally found them in Tokyo, but they are available in the US, too.

The article reminded me that I still have three Waterman fountain pens with varying size nibs, but they have been sitting in their boxes for a long time now.

My favorite is the Uni-Ball Signo UM-153 Gel Ink Rollerball Pen, 1.0mm, Broad Point, Black Ink. V. smooth. I always buy a bunch and give them out to people I like.

I was tipped off about the TinCan from a fellow 2nd grade parent. Seems like such a game changer! There's a bunch (10+) of us who ordered for our kiddos with arrival expected in Dec. Will be such a fun holiday gift!

Such a romantic list, and aesthetically sophisticated in an every day way. I also love the idea of celebrating enthusiasm!

“Simone had long wanted the now-sold-out black MNZ Apollo vest but bought an also-now-sold-outBabaàone instead (great but sometimes too deep V-y). She got this$60 Quince cashmere onerecently and is surprisingly pleased. Very soft, good mock neck, works well over long sleeves. Size up one size.”

“From my youth — I have my original copy that I read to my 7- and 3-year-old. There’s something about Nancy Carlson’s drawings of specific pieces of candy that’s still so evocative for me all these years later, and it’s just a sweet story about sharing candy with your younger sibling and not eating so much that you turn green à la Harriet, which are good little lessons to impart!” —Alexis Swerdloff,New Yorkdeputy editor

“In March, I was the maid of honor at my best friend’s wedding, and the entire bridal party had their makeup done by a professional artist. When I was finally handed the mirror at the end of my turn, I couldn’t believe how perfectly blurred yet glowy my skin looked. That’s when the makeup artist revealed that she’d used the concealer fromHaus Labs, Lady Gaga’s makeup line, on my entire face. It covered breakouts, brightened my under eyes, and delivered a perfectly natural-looking finish. I haven’t looked back since.”—Brenley Goertzen, writer
