The Best Memorial Day Mattress Sales

Memorial Day weekend is (finally) here, and the mattress discounts are deep. Almost all of our favorite brands are slashing prices on mattresses and offering sitewide deals on sheetsblankets, and pillows along with exclusive discounts for Strategist readers — so make note if there’s a required code listed for the mattress you’ve got your eye on. One word of advice: Let our mattress roundup be your guide. Nearly all of the mattresses below have been tested by the Strategist team, and you can read more about them here. And finally, to make comparison shopping even easier, we’re showing the price of queen-size mattresses for all options below.

Allswell

Allswell is a longtime Strategist favorite for its “supportive but soft” foam-coil hybrid mattress. When you use the code STRATMEM, you can take 20 percent off the brand’s Allswell, Brick, Luxe, and Supreme models.

Aviya

Aviya Mattress - Queen
$1,049

Former Strategist writer Lori Keong called this mattress “plush yet delightfully bouncy.” The brand is offering $200 off all sizes with the code STRAT200.

Avocado

Avocado Green Mattress - Queen
$1,799
$1,799

Avocado, which we’ve dubbed the best ecoconscious mattress because of its use of organic and recycled materials, will knock $100 off the price of its Green, Vegan, and Latex mattresses with the code HONOR and $250 off its new Luxury Plus mattress with the code MEMORIALDAY. Plus, it’s offering $50 off linen bedding with the code GRATITUDE and an additional $300 off select bed frames (no code required). Note that Avocado allows only one code per purchase.

Bear

Bear Original Mattress
$649

Bear’s already-affordable mattress, which is ideal for athletes because of its temperature-regulating, muscle-soothing cover, just got even cheaper: With the code STRAT25, it’ll take 25 percent off the memory-foam Bear mattress — and throw in two free cloud pillows and a sheet set. If you prefer a hybrid mattress to memory foam, you can use the same code (and get the same free stuff) on the Bear Hybrid, which we sum up this way: “If you want to fall asleep fast, it’s worth the price.”

Birch by Helix

If you use the code STRAT200, Birch gives you $200 off any mattress, all of which are made using sustainably sourced materials including organic cotton and Rainforest Alliance–certified Talalay latex. Plus, the brand will throw in two free organic cotton pillows with any mattress purchase.

Casper

Arguably the originator of the mattress-in-a-box trend, Casper is currently offering 15 percent off of most mattresses with the code MEMDAY15. While its Original foam mattress is not ideal for hot sleepers, former Strategist editor Margaret Rhodes says, “For everyone else, you can’t go wrong.” If you prefer a hybrid, the Casper Wave Hybrid has both contoured foam and dome-shaped gel pods to provide support for your back, neck, and shoulders (former Strategist writer Lori Keong called it “a souped-up, premium version of the original Casper”). We also like the Casper Element Mattress, the brand’s most basic offering, which we find to be a great choice for kids.

Cocoon By Sealy

Sealy’s mattress-in-a-box, which has cooling technology that’s ideal for the sweltering summer nights ahead, is 35 percent off, no code needed. The all-foam mattress comes in medium-soft or extra-firm. (Strategist senior editor Simone Kitchens found that “the firm option was supportive enough to help alleviate some chronic back pain” she was experiencing.) With every purchase, the brand will also throw in two free pillows and a sheet set.

Eight Sleep

Set your preferred sleep temperature and this smart mattress from Eight Sleep will warm or cool itself throughout the night to keep you comfortable. It also comes with sleep tracking via its phone app. As part of the brand’s Memorial Day sale, you can take up to $350 off the price of the mattress with code AFF150. Plus, you can take $100 off the Pod Cover (which transforms any mattress into a smart mattress) and get up to 20 percent off bed accessories with a mattress or cover purchase.

Emma

$579

This Memorial Day, you can snag the Emma mattress, which we called “a solid choice for side-sleepers who get hot easily,” for 45 percent off — no code required.

Helix

Helix, which offers nine different hybrid mattress options, has a three-tiered deal this Memorial Day weekend exclusively for Strategist readers: Get $100 off any purchase over $600 with code STRAT100, $150 off when you spend $1,250 or more with code STRAT150, and $200 off when you spend $1,750 or more with code STRAT200. They’re also throwing in two free microfiber Dream pillows with any purchase using those codes.

Idle Sleep

Idle Sleep is offering up to 50 percent off its memory-foam mattresses and 35 percent off its hybrid mattresses along with two free memory-foam pillows with every mattress purchase. Plus, you can take an extra $25 off your total with code STRAT25.

Layla Sleep

Layla is offering $150 off any memory foam mattress purchase and $200 off any hybrid mattress purchase, along with two free memory-foam pillows, a microfiber sheet set, and a mattress protector (a $300 value) — no code required.

Leesa

Leesa is offering $200 off the Leesa Original mattress, $300 off the Leesa Hybrid, and $500 off the Leesa Legend. Strategist editor Maxine Builder is a stomach sleeper, and she found that every night she slept on the original Leesa, she “fell into a deep sleep quickly and stayed there.” The brand will also throw in two free pillows with any mattress purchase.

Molecule

This Memorial Day, Molecule is taking 20 percent off everything on its site with the code STRAT20. If you don’t know where to start, we suggest the all-foam Molecule 1 Mattress, which has a cover that wicks heat and moisture to keep sleepers cool.

Nectar

After former Strategist editor (and current stomach-sleeper) Casey Lewis tested out Nectar’s extra-firm Memory-Foam Mattress, she reported that it has “just the right amount of give, in that it’s comfortable for me to move around on but I don’t feel anyone (or anything) else moving around.” This Memorial Day, Nectar is offering up to 36 percent off its mattresses and will throw in a complimentary sheet set, mattress protector, and cooling pillow (up to a $498 value) with any mattress purchase — no code required.

Nest Bedding

This Memorial Day, Nest Bedding is offering 20 percent off your entire cart with the purchase of a luxury mattress like this flippable memory-foam model. One side is firm and the other is medium, which we think makes it work especially well in a guest or second bedroom.

Nolah Mattress

Photo: retailer

The Nolah Original Mattress is constructed with temperature-neutral foam the company says makes it cooler than any other memory-foam mattress on the market, and according to Strategist writer and notorious sweaty sleeper Jenna Milliner-Waddell, it lives up to its claim. “This memory foam does feel cooler to sleep on than other memory foam I’ve slept on,” she writes. “I can tell because I don’t get overheated as fast sleeping on the Nolah Original as I have in the past.” Through the end of the month, the brand is offering up to $250 off their Original 10” mattress or $300 off their Signature 12” Mattress, both of which come with two free pillows. Plus, Strategist readers can take an additional $50 off their mattress purchase by entering the code STRAT50 at checkout.

Parachute

Parachute is offering customers 20 percent off sitewide, no code necessary. While you could just pick up a new set of linen sheets, we also suggest their foam-coil mattress. It’s designed to be firm in the middle for back support and softer at the head and feet for comfort.

Plushbeds

PlushBeds’ Memorial Day sale offerings include up to $1,250 off memory-foam latex mattresses (that’s basically half off), and up to 25 percent off mattress toppers, pillows, and bedding. Those shopping for a latex mattress specifically will also get two organic latex pillows, a plush sheet set, and a mattress protector (which together cost $416) for free with purchase. With the exclusive code STRAT2021, Strategist readers can also take an additional $100 off their latex mattress purchase.

Purple

You won’t even need a code to take $100 off Purple’s original mattress, $150 off a hybrid mattresses, or $200 off Hybrid Premier, all of which are discounted at checkout. “Avowed side-sleeper” and former Strategist deputy editor Jason Chen says that “Purple’s anomalous materials are well suited to those who sleep hot and hate foam.” To complete your new bedroom setup, the company is also offering $200 off a bedding bundle — which includes two latex Harmony pillows, bamboo sheets, and a mattress protector that originally costs $531 — with your mattress purchase.

Saatva

From now through May 31, take $225 off any purchase over $1,000 on Saatva’s organic and ecofriendly mattresses, no code necessary. This mattress is our pick for people who prefer firm mattresses or those in need of extra back support.

Serta

Serta’s range of iComfort mattresses are designed to keep sweaty sleepers cool. There are five versions; all promise cooling abilities and are on sale, but the more you spend, the more souped-up the mattress will be. Four of the iComfort mattresses — including this entry-level, limited-edition model — are $200 off, with the priciest option on sale for $400 off (in addition to superior cooling abilities, the top-of-the-line iComfort mattress promises the best pressure relief).

Tempur-Pedic

Tempur-Pedic, known for its pressure-relieving memory foam, is offering $300 off some of its most popular mattresses, including the TEMPUR-Breeze and TEMPUR-LuxeAdapt, along with $200 off the TEMPUR-ProAdapt and TEMPUR-Adapt.

Tuft & Needle

$1,271

Take 15 percent off Tuft & Needle’s Mint mattress, which has extra cooling technology when compared to the company’s original mattress (which is also 10 percent off). If you’re looking for a total spring refresh, there are also savings on jersey sheet setsmattress frames, and even dog beds.

WinkBeds

WinkBed Mattress
$1,499

All mattresses from our favorite brand for achy backs are $300 off with the code SLEEP300 (automatically applied at checkout). Strategist senior editor Katy Schneider praised the quality construction: “From top to bottom, these have a thin layer of foam (for comfiness), air springs (to keep things cool), a support pad (to keep your lumbar area well-supported), and tempered steel coils (for pushback and to keep the mattress from losing shape).”

Yogabed by Yogasleep

Yogasleep is offering 20 percent sitewide, including their foam Yogabed, which evenly disperses your body weight to reduct pressure points as you sleep. Bedding accessories and sound machines — including the Dohm, a favorite of Strategist editorstherapists, and acupuncturists alike — are also on sale.

Zinus

Zinus — which makes some of our favoritecrazy affordable” mattresses — is having a Memorial Day sale, with up to 20 percent off the brand’s Tight Top Spring Mattress and Euro Top Memory Foam Spring Hybrid Mattress. Both models are made with steel coils and high-density memory foam, but the latter is topped with an extra layer of green-tea-infused, odor-neutralizing foam for increased comfort. (At under $200, it’s easily the most affordable mattress on this list.)
