Teyana Taylor’s 5-year-old daughter, Rue Rose Taylor Shumpert, stole the spotlight at Sunday’sActor Awards(previously known as the SAG Awards) when she posed for photos andadjusted the sparkly trainof her mother’s Thom Browne dress — a sculptural bustier withfauxnipples that descended into a slinky, shimmering skirt. Rue also gave an adorableinterviewpraising her famous mom; the videos have been all over social media, and watching the scene unfold made me wonder about Rue’s red-carpet outfit and about dressing kids for this kind of event. I love how her clothing looks like something a kid would actually want to wear, like an elevated version of Disney-princessdress-up clothesor a modern kids’ version of the elaborate costumes onBridgerton.
The full skirt, ruffle-collar shirt, and blue striped cardigan are all printed or embellished with colorful gems — any kindergartner’s dream. And the gems on the skirt are delightfully huge, each one about the size of a pear or an avocado, making it look like the final boss of bejeweled kid fashion. After searching around for a while, I discovered that all three pieces are made by the Italian luxury kids’ brand Monnalisa. And while stock is limited and some sizes have already sold out, all three pieces are currently on sale.
