Welcome to Stationery Week on the Strategist, where we’ve been obsessively researching and testing office supplies — everything from pens, pencils, and paper to task chairs. For more, head to our Stationery Week hub.
We’ve written about a lot of writing implements over the years: The musician Neko Case told us about the technical pen her archaeologist parents used to write on bone; Capitol Hill interns shared the pen they all carry;Piet Oudolf sent a snapshot of the paint markers and colored pencils he uses to make his colorful landscape drawings; and Plum Sykes recommended the fanciest pencil you could possibly imagine. Seven years ago, we tested 100 pens to find the absolute best in every category, from rollerballs to felt-tips. For Stationery Week, we’ve rounded up our absolute favorites all in one place. Think of it as a giant virtual pen-and-pencil jar.
