La Roche-Posay’s Double Repair moisturizer is an excellent starter face cream. Its main ingredients are ceramides, glycerin, and niacinamide, a hydrating and barrier-supporting combination.

Another nice French pharmacy moisturizer is the Embryolisse cream. Several makeup artists we’ve spoken to say it’s ideal for prepping skin thanks to its creamy texture and nonirritating formula.

Weleda’s tried-and-true moisturizer works well for any skin type — and smells very nice, in my opinion.

You may not be a celebrity, but for $79, you can moisturize like one. Augustinus Bader’s the Rich Cream counts Adam Scott, Rita Ora, and Phillip Lim among its fans. It doesn’t go on sale often, so if you want to try it, now’s the time.

If you’ve accidentally overexfoliated and compromised your moisture barrier, or if you’ve recently undergone chemical or laser treatments, celebrity facialist Candace Marino recommends that you use this night cream from Senté. “It promotes deep hydration, decreases inflammation, and stimulates collagen and elastin production,” she says, and it’s also noncomedogenic.

For this night cream, the inclusion of rhamnose, a naturally derived plant sugar, is particularly notable: It plumps and firms the skin along with fortifying the skin’s barrier. “With continued use, the cream visibly reduces wrinkles” and creates a more even texture and tone over time, dermatologist Dr. Elizabeth Houshmand adds.

While a lot of American sunscreens aren’t great, this one from Allies of Skin actually has a high SPF rating and feels comfortable on the skin. It has a similar silicone base to Supergoop’s Unseen sunscreen, but it isn’t nearly as slippery.

If you’re new to double cleansing, DHC’s olive-oil-based, fragrance-free cleansing oil is a good place to start.

A pregnancy-safe skin-care product we love is this peptide serum. Consultant dermatologist and mother Dr. Justine Kluk says that peptides act as “messengers,” sending signals to the skin to produce more collagen or elastin.

These much-loved exfoliating pads from Dr. Dennis Gross use a blend of glycolic, salicylic, and lactic acids, which help with both breakouts and dark spots. (Many users recommend cutting the pads in half to get twice as many treatments.)

Sunday Riley’s lactic-acid treatment is a gentle but effective exfoliant that also targets hyperpigmentation.

If you’re looking for some real oomph, the PCA Skin C&E Advanced Serum contains 20 percent L-ascorbic acid along with pure vitamin E and other antioxidants that help with aging and free radicals.

Former Strategist beauty writer Rachael Griffiths, who describes her skin as so dry it “feels as though it’s cracking if you wait too long after a shower to smear on some moisturizer,” says the brand’s multipurpose balm is “intensely nourishing.” (But if you have acne-prone skin, tread carefully — it gave me a nasty breakout, probably due to the shea butter.)

While Denton-Hurst doesn’t love eye creams, if you are going to buy it, she recommends going for something moisturizing like this one from Neocutis. It contains growth factors that support and encourage collagen production, as well as hyaluronic acid and antioxidants, which protect skin from oxidative damage and hydrate the skin.

NuFaces’s microcurrent devices use low-level electrical currents to increase circulation and encourage lymphatic drainage, leaving you looking well rested and sculpted.
