In our column “What I Can’t Live Without,” we’ve interviewed hundreds of famous people about their favorite products — and here, we’re going deep into their favoritewater bottles. While water bottles weren’t a status object when we launched the column in 2016 (in that year, zero famous people recommended awater bottleto us), it’s since become fertile ground. Whether they care about the environment, find themselves chronically dehydrated, or simply have an addiction to ice water, nothing comes between them and their Hydro Flask — orOwalaor Stanley, whether they prefer a 64-ounce jug or 24-ounce bottle that’s small enough to fit in their bag. (In fact,Rob Lowecalls his bottle his “baby,” and LeVar Burton customized his Yeti with his name to avoid losing it.) Below, you’ll find plenty of water bottles from well-known brands on this list, as well as some options from newer brands that offer a little innovation by way of appearance or function. In cases where more than one celebrity has recommended the brand, we’ve included all of their quotes.

“I have this bottle in blue and pink, because my oldest loves pink and my youngest loves blue. We carry them fully empty, and when we’re at an airport, I usually let them pick a juice or whatever drink they want and pour it into the bottles. When we’re on the plane, I don’t have to worry about them spilling on themselves or anything like that.” —December 2025

“I use the bigger Hydro Flask myself, but finding achildren’s water bottlethat didn’t spill in a backpack was a challenge. I definitely had some fails, and these are the answer. They don’t spill, and the kids can use them on their own. Also, they check all the things I care about: BPA-free, no lead in the sealing process, no plastic, and they’re stainless steel.” —April 2025

“I’ve been drinking a gallon of water since I was 13 or 14. My gallon water bottle has changed throughout the years. This one’s from Costco. I carry it with me everywhere. I’ve taken it to clubs. I’ve even taken it to concerts and fought with security and been like, ‘I really need this.’” —December 2024

“I was late to the whole drinking-enough-water thing. I found this water bottle and it’s great because all you need to do is drink that amount of water a day, and you’re good. It makes me look like I know maybe more of what I’m doing when I go to the gym with it, even though I don’t know anything. I like that it’s giant and ginormous and I can hook it on to a gym bag. I have it in black and white. The black is probably my Fashion Week go-to, and the white is for my day-to-day.”—November 2024

“My wife, Lauren, bought herself a green one of these with her name on it and then my 3-year-old said, ‘Well, man, if you’ve got one, I need one.’ So he’s got one, which is gray. And I said, ‘Well, if you both got one, then come on … I need one too!’ So that’s how the whole family got these three Frank Green water bottles. They’re just the go-to. I’m always insisting on trying to drink water all day, so it keeps me going, and it’s always by my side.” —August 2024
[Editor’s note: Simon Pryce and his family own an older version of the water bottle that’s no longer available, so we’ve linked to the updated version that’s available now.]

“Because I have to taste food like curries all the time for work, I need a sip of water between each taste. I like the water super-cold for when I taste stronger flavors. This tumbler is my sipping cup and keeps my water ice cold. If I leave it overnight and come back the next day, the water is still cold.” —July 2024

“I didn’t even know these tumblers were becoming such a trend with the younger folks. I’m a big beverage person, but I was like, I need to find a way to make drinking water more fun. I always have my Stanley with me, and it’s been such a game changer. It’s also good for the environment to have a reusable water bottle.” —May 2025
Paige DeSorbo
“I got sick of hearing my boyfriend say, ‘Maybe you wouldn’t have a headache if you drank water,’ so I bought a Stanley. I’ve had this for about a year now, and I’m never going back. I don’t get headaches anymore, and it’s changed my skin.”—November 2024
Campbell “Pookie” Puckett
“I definitely always have a Stanley with me. My doctor is always telling me to make sure I drink enough water, and they say, ‘If you think you’ve drank enough, you haven’t.’”—October 2024
Hannah Brown
“You know, if I could, I would drink Poppi all day, but I need to get my water. The Stanley definitely helps me make sure that I’m keeping myself hydrated. And I love that it keeps the water cold for so long. It’s so funny — it’s such a basic-girl thing, but they’re great and fit in the cup holder. I love being able to hold the handle. What’s not to love? There’s a reason everybody’s obsessed with them.” —March 2024
Nicola Peltz Beckham
“I love my Stanley cup. I was never a person who brought water bottles around with me. My mom sent me one, and I absolutely made fun of her. I was like, I’m never going to bring that thing anywhere with me. That’s so embarrassing. Now, I’m that person who can’t go anywhere without it. My go-to is the generic gray one that my mom gave me. She also bought me a pink one for Hanukkah, which is cute. I will say that you have to switch out thestrawsand make sure you clean them.” —February 2024

“I literally think I have about four of them in different colors. I have a tan one, a yellow, this great kind of seafoam-green color. I went a little kooky right before [my daughter] was born and even got this little ice-maker that makes the little circle ice that they have at the hospital, because I was like, ‘If I’m going to have a home birth, I still want some of those things.’ I go really bougie and get this glorious rose water from Erewhon and I fill up my Stanley cups with the little rabbit-pellet ice. And then I put some rose water in and some mint and lemon, and I have them all over the house.” —September 2023

“Not to bash any products, but I’m not aStanley Cuplover. I don’t like the straw aspect because I like to make sure my water bottle’s spillproof. I love the Hydro Flask’s retractable spout. It’s easy. The bottle itself is super-durable too. I got mine about six or seven months ago, and I thought I lost it. I was so bummed and ended up getting a cheap, easy one that I ended up losing. I was like,Oh God, I’m not doing anything good for the environment. Then, my Hydro Flask showed up in my son’sbackpack, and I was like,Yes! It came back to me.I need this, otherwise I forget to drink water.” —August 2023

“I feel better mentally and physically when I prioritize and do the right things, like drinking water. I try to stay consistent with drinking around a gallon a day. I can’t say I hit it all the time. And sometimes I go over. Sometimes it’s just boring. But I love this particular Hydro Flask.” —September 2023

“My friends and team know I’m obsessed with my Hydro Flask. I have a running joke and call it my ‘emotional support water bottle,’ because I feel weird without it. I carry it with me everywhere, even though it’s heavy when it’s filled up. The stickers all over it are a whole thing. I try to drink at least one of these a day, which comes out to about half a gallon. Sometimes, I’ll even double up, but I feel good about just one.” —May 2023

“It stays hot. It stays cold. It’s durable. It’s ecofriendly. It holds a lot of water — really, the perfect amount. It works for me, it gets the job done. I try to drink two a day.” —February 2021
Pamela Adlon
“I always carry a water bottle with me, though I grappled with what brand to recommend because I’ve used Hydro Flask, H2GO, and Klean Kanteen. But Hydro Flask is the best and it doesn’t leak. God, my first Hydro Flask — it’s like when I lost my virginity. I don’t know when I bought my first one. I’ve used them for years. I have black and hunter green, and I probably do two 32-ouncers a day, at least. I even brought one with me when I did Jimmy Kimmel. I brought my own water bottle onstage, and he was like, ‘I’ve never seen somebody bring their own water.’ I’m always terrified that when I’m being interviewed or doing a panel, they’ll have plastic. I’m like, ‘Get those nasty little hos away.’” —March 2020
Busy Philipps
“They really did it, didn’t they? They really permeated the continent with these water bottles. I think that, obviously, the climate crisis is one of the most important things that we need to focus our energy on. While we need change on a governmental and corporate level, we all need to do our part. I’m constantly drinking water, and for me, the Hydro Flask has been the best reusable water bottle. I have a giant one and the slightly smaller one, which I keep in my car. I feel like with some of the other water bottles I’ve tried, I would get three sips of water and then need to refill them. And if you’re out for the day, then you’re just trying to find somewhere to refill your water bottle.” —December 2019

“So, in the summer, I fill this water bottle up with ice and water at night and drink it by my bed, and it’ll stay ice-cold till morning. I originally discovered it doing Modo Yoga, which is in like a 100-degree room — they sell these there, and the ice-cold water stays cold, even in those conditions! I turned my in-laws onto them, and now we take them to the beach. And you can fill them with rosé too, which is an added bonus.” —July 2017

“I never would’ve thought that I’d bring a boring water bottle onstage, but it looks actually quite intentional on that stool. Normally, it’s more typical to have a glass of water onstage during a stand-up set. But this water bottle is so sleek in its design and so quick to open and close. And the flow works better than a glass of water splashing everywhere as I dump it onto my face.” —February 2024
Carol Lim and Humberto Leon
“I’ve gone through a lot of different water bottles. This one’s amazing because if you use it for a cold beverage or a hot one, it stays that temperature for 24 hours. I’ve left it and come back four hours later and still had hot tea. Other people in my office see me carry it around. If I leave it anywhere, I call my co-workers and ask where it is. I typically drink green tea and lately iced coffee or iced water out of it.” —June 2017

“My team and I have been using stainless-steel water bottles as often as we can, especially during hot summer days training in Miami. The ones I use are double-walled and keep my water and sports drinks very cold. Waterdrop also has flavored effervescent cubes you drop into the bottle. They’re really delicious and help me to drink more water throughout the day.” —September 2023

“Multiple people have told me that they know that it’s me across the park because they can see my water bottle. Mine is a sort of desert-orange color. I’m on my third one because I lost the other two that came before. I lost the most recent one on this tour. And I was very sad. Everybody knew I needed to replace it ASAP, otherwise I’d lose my mind. I drink a gallon of water a day. I drink five of my Ramblers a day. It keeps me honest about my hydration. It’s a very solid water bottle.” —December 2025
John McCauley
“I love this bottle. I have it in all the sizes it comes in. My drinks stay cold in there for hours and hours and hours. Super-easy to wash, either by hand or throw it in the dishwasher. The lids are interchangeable with all the bottles. I just find them to be very convenient, and they’re just my favorite water bottle that I’ve tried. I switched over to a Yeti as my daily water bottle probably about two years ago when my old Aladdin bottle that I had for ten years broke. I think I have four or five sizes, and then I have the koozies they make for cans. We have the wine-tumbler thing, we’ve got all kinds of Yeti stuff in the house. I’m drinking my iced coffee out of a Yeti glass right now.” —June 2023

“I always carry my water bottle with me. Yeti is just awesome because it stays hot or cold for a millennia. I have the Rambler and it’s really good quality. I’m actually going to order customized ones for my kids. You can go onto their website and put your name and some little pictures. It’s very cute.” —December 2022
Sam Sanders
“I got this tumbler as a gift a few months ago, and at first I was like,Oh, water bottle, wow, interesting gift, but it’s kind of changed my life. It has two lids: The top lid has a small mouth, great for sipping, and then if you take that top lid off, there’s a big opening where you can put ice cubes or, like, guzzle it out of the bottle if you want. Some days I like to have my big ice cubes in there, and this one is big enough to accommodate that. Sometimes I take it on my evening walk with the dogs. I can fit two Modelos in there, and it’s a nice little sip and walk. Also,
it’s indestructible. I swear it is made out of the same stuff as Wolverine’s claws.” —July 2022
LeVar Burton
“I lost several of these until I came across somebody who had their name printed on theirs. I knew that was the solution to my problem. Now that I have one with my name on it, I haven’t lost it. I can walk away, and my personalized Yeti will still be there. Ice melts very, very slowly inside. I can load it up at night and I’ll still have ice in the water in the morning.” —September 2021
Adriene Mishler
“It sounds silly, but if you like your drinking vessel, you’re more likely to make it an extension of your body. This is my favorite water bottle. I used to be a Nalgene gal, but the thing about a big wide-mouthed bottle is that nine times out of ten, you’ll spill water on yourself. Which is no big deal — unless you’re about to perform or do an interview. I spilled a lot of water on myself drinking from a Nalgene while on tour in the past. This has a nice little spout for your mouth. The lid also has a handle, and I like that the water bottle is stainless steel and can better control the temperature of the liquid.” —April 2021

“I was constantly buying plastic water bottles on the road until I bought this. It was a lifestyle change. Even at home, I always drink from it now. The bottle is a good way to remember how much water I drink each day. I try to drink two bottles a day and I never buy plastic water bottles anymore. It’s kind of annoying to carry around all the time, but I’m so glad I got it.” —June 2021
Jake Shears
“First of all, they’re amazing for making giant cocktails. Like, if I’m working at night or something, or if I’m in the studio, they’re so great for just dumping a third of a bottle of vodka and a bunch of tonic water in. These are so insulating — they keep the ice super-cold so you don’t have to keep mixing drinks. If I’m drinking at home, they really come in handy. But I love them for just plain water too, near my bedside. I love having something that’s ice cold next to the bed.” —May 2020

“The way that the bottle functions just made me want to drink more water — it’s something about the straw. It’s something that I always have with me. If you go online, some fans of mine have set up accounts called “Ben and his Owala” or something like that, and you can find dozens of pictures of me, like onstage with my band or doing meet and greets. I’m getting into advanced Owala territory where, because I’ve got more than one, I’m starting to change the lid-and-base combos so they can be unique to me, which is ridiculous.” —May 2025
Ms. Rachel
“I will say to my husband, ‘Aaron, I have a headache,’ and he’ll ask me, ‘Have you had any water?’ Then I’ll say, ‘No, I haven’t had water in a few days.’ It’s a real problem. I don’t like drinking water, but this water bottle encourages me. It has a straw so you can sip or turn it. I bought one for every employee we have.” —September 2024
Samantha Irby
“One of my friends got one of these and texted the group chat, ‘You all need to get this water bottle.’ Well, it’s good. I wouldn’t text anyone about it, but if someone asked me for a water-bottle recommendation, I would give it. Two things. One, I love ice water. I filled it last night with ice cubes, and it is still full of ice cubes and cold water. Two, the mouthpiece. You can either tip it back, like you’re drinking from a plastic water bottle, or you can sip it — and there’s something about the shape that makes it so easy. It’s like you breathe in and water comes up. You don’t have to slurp or shake around or move the straw. For those of us who love to sip, it’s top tier.” —May 2023
Lance Bass
“I try to drink at least half a bottle every hour, and I just keep filling it up. But it also keeps the temperature of drinks for a really long time. I can go to sleep and wake up in the morning with my drink still at the perfect temperature. My lovely assistant, Lisa Delcampo, who is also the star ofThe Circleon Netflix, has had this water bottle forever. I always really liked it, and she decided to give me one of my own. It really did change my life.” —November 2021

“This is my baby. On set, they’ll be like, ‘Where’s the baby? Has anybody seen Rob’s baby? Can someone bring Rob’s baby to set?’ I carry the baby with me all the time. If I’m being good, I get through one a day. It’s very durable, it’s ecofriendly, it’s reusable — I hate having any kind of plastic water bottle that you throw away. It’s so bad for the environment. This one has really cute delineations: Keep drinking! You’re doing great! Just a little bit more! This makes me laugh. And they actually do help me realize if I’m on pace or behind. I’ll go hours and hours and then be like, Oh, damn it. And then I’ll just go glug, glug, glug, glug, glug to catch up. I’m a big believer in catching up.” —February 2023

“I don’t like room-temperature water; I like cold water. This keeps my water cold at all times. I started using it maybe three years ago, and I would say that it’s gotten me to drink a lot more water throughout the day. I have it with me at all times and I’m constantly refilling it. It’s really helped me. I think I almost drink a gallon of water a day because I have the 32-ounce one, and I fill it up about four to five times a day.” —December 2022

“The No. 1 thing on my list is with me so often that I almost completely forgot about it. I bought it originally for my daughter, who was going on a trip in South America and needed camping gear. Emily Hyland
“I’ve been using Nalgenes for the last 20, 30 years. Trying to be ecoconscious, I think it’s a really durable bottle and it’s not very heavy like glass, which, even with the rubber on it, I feel like it’s going to break when I’m traveling around the city. On the Nalgene, I like the handle, I like the wide mouth, I like that it holds a lot of water — it’s been a durable standby in my life.” —October 2019

“My husband gave this to me a few years ago for Christmas, and I love it. It feels good that I’m not using plastic. Also, it fits perfectly in any cup holder because it’s skinnier at the bottom. You can fit a bottle of wine in it if you need to. I have friends who use it for that, and it does keep their wine cold. I haven’t been drinking recently, but it’s good to know it does work for that. “For whatever reason, when I drink water, I chug it — I will drink an entire 16-ounce bottle in one sitting — and I feel like it’s way easier to knock it back from a wide mouth. For a while, I had plastic water bottles, which don’t really make a lot of sense and aren’t that great for you, so I like the fact that it’s glass and then you have silicone around it, which makes it cute.” —December 2021

“I bring this bottle with me everywhere. It gives me peace of mind knowing the built-in UV light is killing everything inside and I’m drinking clean water. You just press the top — you know it is on when it turns blue. I think it takes something like 22 seconds to purify what’s in the bottle. When it’s done, the light turns green. The only thing you have to remember is to recharge the top because that’s what holds the UV light, and it will die after a while.” —May 2021

“My sister got me a S’well bottle a couple of birthdays ago. I use it for water or tea — it keeps drinks cold or hot for so long — but also as a roller for stretching. That’s not what it’s meant to be, but it’s a really hard bottle so it’s great at getting into my IT bands and glutes. I’ll use it as an arch roller for my feet, too. I have tried to use it on my back before, but it didn’t work. It’s a little too small and hard for that, but for everything else, it’s great.” —February 2021
Kourtney Kardashian
“I use this every day for thegym. I used to bring a real plastic, you know, water bottle, but obviously I just feel it’s so dated to use plastic water bottles. But I feel very strongly that if you’re leaving the house and need to take a water to go that everyone should use the S’well bottles, or have aglass of waterat home. But just to even fill it up for the day and know how much you’re drinking, I think is important. I try to drink 12 glasses of water a day, so depending on which size S’well I’m using, I kind of calculate it by that. I also have the smaller size for my kids to bring to school.” —October 2019
Lucy Liu
“My S’well bottle keeps drinks cold for an inordinate amount of time. When I travel and have to bring liquids on the plane, it’ll keep milk cold, so it doesn’t spoil. It’s always with me because I use it every single day. I don’t use it for hot drinks though. For that I like my Zojirushi, which is insane — you put hot tea in it at 6 a.m. and at 6 p.m. it’s so hot, you’ll burn your tongue.” —August 2018

“I really, really like the company and the product: The 25-ounce one can accommodate a bottle of wine, so it’s the type of thing you could bring to the Hollywood Bowl, where you can’t bring an actual bottle, because it keeps it perfectly cold. The bottles are also indestructible and definitely my favorite to use even just for water when I’m going out to play tennis or whatever it is.” —December 2020
Halima Aden
“It looks really sleek, but it’s also super-functional: If I put something cold in it, the bottle keeps it cold. If I put hot tea or coffee in there, it keeps it hot.” —September 2020
Alex Eagle
“The S’well water bottle keeps things hot, which I love because I love tea. Or I’ll fill it up with filtered water and shove a little bit of ginger or mint in there before leaving the house. We’ve eradicated all plastic water bottles from the house, but we still drink some mineral water out of bottles. I’m really trying to get it all down to just filtered water.” —August 2019

“I’m a very thrifty individual and see so much waste everywhere. I think we as human beings have responsibilities to minimize that waste, and these water bottles have been a constant in my life since I became aware of the human footprint on the Earth. We all need to stay hydrated, and drinking water is the secret to life and beauty and not being hungover. Also, not spending money on bottles of water or adding to the mass of plastic on Earth is great. ‘Have a fucking water bottle’ is my motto in life.” —April 2018
