Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy (like selfie sticks), but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed (that’s four-to-five-star reviews and lots of ‘em) products and single out the most convincing. While we’ve already heard about one life-changing mirror, here we’ve rounded up the best light-up makeup mirrors on Amazon, according to the people. (Note that reviews have been edited for length and clarity.)

Best trifold mirror

Absolutely Lush Lighted Makeup Mirror
$23 at Amazon

“This mirror is so cool. I’ll admit I was a little bit hesitant when I bought it. I was afraid it would end up being like one of those online ordering fails, but I am 1,000 percent impressed! The mirror is built very well. The base of it, which is removable, fits perfectly and is stable. The light is really bright, which is awesome. It also folds up so that it doesn’t take up too much space. I bought it for my dorm so that I can have a place to do my makeup at my desk, out of my roommate’s way, and actually have good lighting. Seriously great product, my suite mates come over and borrow it all the time.”

Best 10x-magnification LED mirror

Fancii 10x Magnifying Lighted Makeup Mirror
$27 at Amazon

“This is one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon. I had cataract surgery a few months ago with lens correction. I can no longer see up close. I tried other mirrors with lower magnification, but they didn’t provide what I needed to apply makeup properly. Reading glasses just get in the way. I can see most of my face or just focus on one area. This mirror is light enough to travel with, has a battery-operated surrounding light, and is great for applying makeup, plucking eyebrows, etc. Its twist suction cup ensures that it sticks to a smooth surface like the bathroom mirror. I love it!”

Best travel folding mirror

Terresa Lighted Travel Makeup Mirror
$19 at Amazon

“I bought this as a birthday gift for my sister and it’s her new favorite makeup accessory. She uses it every morning and it’s much more convenient than sitting in front of her long mirror behind the closet. The LED lights are fairly bright. Bright enough to light your face, but not so bright that they’ll burn your retinas and leave you blinking all morning.”

Best cordless touch-sensor mirror

Absolutely Lush Natural Daylight Lighted Makeup Mirror
$19 at Amazon

“I really like this mirror! It has great clarity and the lighting is adjustable. You simply tap it to turn it on or off. Hold your finger and it dims or brightens. The round 10x magnifier is perfect for applying eyeliner or seeing things up close, and has suction cups on the back to place it where you want. The plastic base of the mirror has a small area in front to hold tweezers, etc. This mirror is surprisingly lightweight and could break down easily for overnight or even camping. It doesn’t have a bulky cord or need electricity. Not too big, not too small. For the price, this is a fantastic mirror.”

Best dim-feature mirrors

BeautyWorks Makeup Vanity Mirror With Touch Sensor
$26 at Amazon

“I have had a makeup mirror for as long as I can remember. I am older now and I still use a makeup mirror. This one is a dynamite buy. It has no big cords, is run by battery, and you can adjust the light with the touch of a finger. If you have used the old trifold mirrors that I think everyone my age grew up with, you will love this! It is big enough for your vanity, but small enough so that you can pack it to go with you. Great buy!!”

Wondruz Lighted Makeup Mirror
$20 at Amazon

“I purchased two of these lighted makeup mirrors for my daughters who are in college. It is a great product for the price we paid and the lighting is awesome. I would definitely purchase them again! Both of my daughters agree that they use the mirrors all the time in their room instead of using the bathroom mirror. They love them!”

Best double-sided tabletop mirror

Mirrormore Lighted Vanity Mirror with 1x/10x Magnifying, 7.5 Inch Double Sided Mirror With Stand
$50 at Amazon

“Just got my mirror and I love it! I wanted a lighted makeup mirror with 10x magnification that ran on batteries but could also run on an AC adapter. I liked the portability of batteries, but I’m realistic enough to know we don’t always have them on hand, so the plug adapter is great. It swivels, but it’s firm, so it won’t move on you while you’re looking in it. The magnification and lighting on this mirror are excellent! Not to mention it looks nice, too, so it isn’t an eyesore on my dresser.”

Best battery-operated mirror

Terresa LED Lighted Makeup Mirror With Round 10x Magnifying Mirror
$22 at Amazon

“I can’t say how much of a steal you are getting with this mirror. I bought it because we travel quite frequently and I always get stuck with a mirror with horrible lighting or no mirror at all. The mirror has a sleek design and barely weighs anything. It comes with a 10x magnifying mirror that can suction to the lighted mirror. What sets this mirror apart from the others is the design. The stand can be propped flush against the back of the mirror, making it easy to store. This just screamed perfect travel mirror to me, so I bought it and I am glad that I did.”

Best mirror with multiple settings

Jerdon Tri-Fold Two-Sided Lighted Makeup Mirror With 5x Magnification
$34 at Amazon

“This is my new go-to makeup mirror. I’ve even created a makeup station at my desk because this mirror is so impressive. I typically leave it on the ‘day’ mode 95 percent of the time, but I like that I can see my makeup under different lighting. The zoom feature is very useful for up-close makeup. I love the side panels; they really provide a 180-degree view of my makeup in the morning. This also seems very well built, and sturdier than what one would typically find nowadays. It also impresses me by how adjustable the angle is on the mirror body itself. Overall, I am extremely happy I bought this makeup mirror and can’t see myself standing in the bathroom ever again for makeup application.”

Best dressing-room-style mirror

Chende Hollywood Makeup Vanity Mirror With Light
$290 at Amazon

“WOW I LOVE IT!! I noticed there weren’t any reviews for the round mirror, so I wanted to make sure I left a review for it. It’s gorgeous! Top quality — the lighting is outstanding and gets extremely bright. Perfect size — and the round shape is so much more aesthetically pleasing than the original square shape everyone has. I compared this brand to Vanity Girl and also Impressions, and this beat both in quality for the price! Vanity Girl had incandescent bulbs at a costlier price; Chende has LED for less. Impressions is extremely costly, and the standard option does not include LED bulbs, so you have to order accordingly and it can be up to an extra $90 just for bulbs other than incandescent. The reason you want to research and get LED bulbs on this mirror is because it has a purer white tone, which makes makeup application more accurate and truer to tone. Incandescent lights create a warm cast and kind of defeats the purpose of getting a mirror like this when your No. 1 reason is for accurate makeup application. Highly recommend this mirror over both brands; you will not regret your purchase. FYI, my order shipped in three days and I don’t have prime shipping. Five stars all around.”

Best wall-mounted mirror

KEDSUM 6.8” 10x Magnifying LED Lighted Makeup Mirror
$20 at Amazon

“If you want a mirror that you can see every little pore on your face in, this is the mirror for you. The magnification is excellent. You do have to get up close and personal with it to see yourself, but that’s the case with most magnifying mirrors. The light is brilliant, so don’t worry about it being too dim. This mirror works great for tweezing eyebrows, putting on eyeliner, you name it.”

Best gooseneck mirror

KEDSUM Flexible Gooseneck 6.8” 7x Magnifying LED Lighted Makeup Mirror
$22 at Amazon

“I love the fact that I don’t have to lean across the vanity to get close to the mirror; this mirror sticks to my wall mirror and comes out to me so that I can stand up straight while putting on makeup. I like a clean look in my bathroom, so I take this down every morning and put it in a drawer, and put it back up again the next morning. It adheres to the mirror very well and comes off easily.”
